The Project
What happens when the meter comes off?
Enterprise software delivery has traditionally been measured in billable hours. Laminar challenges that model with a different approach: vetted operators take on clearly defined work, with acceptance criteria and a committed service level.
Our challenge was to make this shift in incentives feel immediately obvious, without losing sight of the people doing the work.
Strategy
Make the meter the villain, not the people.
We created a surreal 3D office where ticking clocks, invoices, and mechanical sounds turn the cost of hourly billing into something you can actually feel.
By exaggerating the absurdity of measuring work by time, we made Laminar’s alternative feel like a natural conclusion: less counting hours, more getting things done.
